Privacy policy
This policy describes the personal information we collect on thehut.company, why we use it, and how to reach us about it.
It sits beside the Terms. This policy covers visitors and people who start a project. Once a written design agreement exists, that agreement covers the project records it creates.
Who we are
The Hut Company, 3046 W Stanford Dr, Englewood, CO 80110, United States, is responsible for personal information collected through the site. Questions go to hello@thehut.company.
What we collect
When you start a project, we ask for:
- First name and email
- Whether you are starting from land, a Signature House, or an idea still taking shape
- Which Signature House, if you name one
- Where you plan to build, and the city or region when that place is outside Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado
- Where the land stands, and when you imagine moving forward
- An investment range, if we ask for one
- Anything you choose to write in the optional note
- Which part of the site opened the form
If you book a conversation, we also keep the time, the time zone, and the confirmation details needed to hold that appointment. The calendar is provided by Cal.com.
We email you about the project you submitted: a confirmation, and, when the project is early, a note so the conversation can stay open. Email is delivered by Resend. You can ask us to stop at any time.
The host of the site, Vercel, receives standard technical data when you load a page: IP address, browser, device type, and the pages requested. If the site is in a private preview, a cookie remembers that the preview password was entered. That cookie is not an account. The public site does not ask you to create one.
When product analytics are on, PostHog receives the pages you open, the links and buttons you use, the site that referred you, and which steps of the project form are used — starting point, region, land status, timeline, and the path we suggest. We do not send your name, email, note, or booking link. A random identifier stays in this browser’s local storage so the pages of one visit stay together. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell personal information.
Why we use it
We use this information to:
- Read the project and reply
- Suggest a next step: a conversation, a Signature House, or a note for later
- Send the messages you asked for by submitting the form
- Remember the project if you write again
- Protect the form from automated abuse
- See which pages, houses, and buttons people use, and which site sent them, without attaching that to a name
The legal bases, where a law such as the GDPR applies, are the steps you asked us to take before a possible engagement, our legitimate interest in answering and protecting the site, and a legal duty when one applies.
Who receives it
People at HUT who need the inquiry in order to respond. Companies that process it for us, and only for that purpose:
- Resend, to deliver email
- Cal.com, to hold a conversation on the calendar
- Vercel, to host the site
- The operator of our private database, to store the inquiry
- Inngest, to send a confirmation again if the first attempt fails
- PostHog, for the limited analytics described above, when it is on
We also disclose information when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect our rights, our people, or the site. We do not share it for advertising.
The studio that edits the site is for people we invite. Those accounts are separate from a visitor’s project inquiry.
How long we keep it
We keep an inquiry while the conversation is open and for a period afterward, so we can pick it up if you return. You may ask us to delete it. We may keep a limited record when we need it for a legal claim, a dispute, or a duty the law imposes. Server logs are kept on the host’s ordinary schedule.
Your choices
Email hello@thehut.company to access, correct, or delete the project information we hold, or to stop email about your inquiry. We will not treat you differently for asking.
If you live in Colorado or another U.S. state whose privacy law applies to you and to us, you may have a right to know, correct, delete, and appeal a refusal. Write to us and we will respond within the time that law requires. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also ask us to restrict or object to certain processing, and you may lodge a complaint with your local authority. We are in the United States. If you send us information from another country, it is processed here.
Children
The site is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will post updates on this page and change the date above. A material change will be posted before we rely on it for new collection.
