Who is The Hut Company?

The Hut Company is a residential design studio for mountain homes. Architecture and interiors are one practice.

There are two ways to begin. A Custom home is designed from your land. A Signature house already exists as a complete design — taken as drawn, or adapted to the site and the way you live.

HUT designs. Licensed local professionals permit and build.

Custom or Signature?

Custom is a house that starts from the site. Architecture and interiors, designed as one. You need an identified building site. Construction, typically, is from $1.2M.

Signature is a finished HUT house. You buy the plans as drawn, or we adapt them to your land and how you live. The houses on this site are the catalog. There is no second plan shop.

If you need a different architecture, that is Custom.

What is in the drawing set?

The drawing set as HUT designed it, the files your builder needs, and a license to build this house once.

Choosing “Purchase as drawn” on a house sends a request. It does not complete a sale.

What is not included?

Not included: structural calculations and engineering, professional stamps, permitting, construction, building materials, or prefab. Licensed local professionals handle these where you build.

If a jurisdiction requires a structural stamp, we can assist — separately from this set.

The drawings follow the International Residential Code (IRC), as published by the ICC. Local code review is still required where you build.

Can the house change?

Customizations — land, rooms, more area — are not in this set. They are scoped with you.

A change is quoted with you. It is not in the as-drawn price. A different architecture is a Custom home.

Who builds it?

We design it. Local professionals permit and build it.

HUT does not construct the house. We stay available to your builder, and to the engineer and the other professionals on the project, so the design is carried through.

Do I need land?

You can start with a Signature house as drawn before you have land.

A Custom home, or adapting a Signature house to a site, needs an identified building site. You do not have to own it yet.

Yes. Write to us and we will introduce you to a client who has finished a house with the studio.
