THE MAINE PROJECT

A retirement home designed around the conviction that the best years deserve the best address.

A four-acre wooded land on the Maine coast that retreats into the landscape and separates beautifully.

The kitchen was designed for someone who actually cooks.

A walk-in pantry, a windowed sink, an island with seating, and a coffee bar that makes the morning ritual feel like the point.

Main Level

The layout keeps social and private life in productive tension.

The kitchen, dining, and living area flow toward the terrace without a major division in the way, with vaulted ceilings above and coastal woodland beyond the glass.

At the opposite end, connected by the breezeway with the office, the primary suite occupies its own wing, reached through a hallway with the bathroom and walk-in closet enclosed before arriving at the bedroom.

This project also features the hotel-style layout for the secondary bedrooms. This helps to create a buffer with the bathrooms and closets, allowing more privacy and rest.

Arrival happens through a breezeway. A moment of transition between outside and in, framed by panneled windows, flanked by planters, and unhurried.

It sets the tone before the door even opens.

Vaulted ceilings, sliding glass walls, and a dining area that doesn't know where the terrace ends. The open social area was designed to feel expansive.

The main goal for the social area was to make it work as well for two as it does for hosting a full table.

The primary suite has a king bed oriented toward the trees, sliding glass doors that open directly onto the deck, and floor-to-ceiling windows that make it easier to access the terrace and bring the view into every corner.

This makes the outdoors into a living art piece framed through all the windows.

Behind the breezeway, the terrace anchors outdoor life with the same intention as the rooms inside.

The fire pit pulls you outside even when the temperature says otherwise, and the surrounding woodland makes every evening feel a little farther from everything else.

Modern bathroom with stone walls, wooden vanity, and large windows overlooking a forest.

The primary bathroom features a double vanity, a freestanding tub, and a walk-in shower behind fluted glass.

The light that comes through it in the morning is the kind that makes you understand why people retire to Maine. The bathroom doesn't try to be a spa. It just ends up feeling like one.
