THE CAR'S COLLECTOR

A home in New Harbor, NH, designed around the machines that matter most.

Most homes are designed around how people live. This one was designed around how a man drives.

Every detail on the main level was designed to capture the essence of this home. Opening toward the surrounding woodland by floor-to-ceiling glass, warm stone, and timber that settle into the mountain landscape without announcing itself.

Main Level


The design organizes private life across two distinct wings.

To one side, the master bedroom, the workshop with the personal garage for the cars he drives closest to his heart. To the other, two independent suites for his daughters, given the same care as the primary. At the center is a living and dining area that faces the woods.

The kitchen anchors the social area of the main level. A stone island, considered proportions, and a material palette chosen for how it looks at dusk as much as at noon.

The slope became the view.

It's what puts the living and the social area, at canopy level, with the panorama of woodland that only exists because the land falls away beneath the room.

The workshop sits at a deliberate remove from the showcase, a fully equipped space for serious restoration work, where the mechanical side of a collector's life unfolds without interrupting the atmosphere of the rest of the home.

The walkout basement is where the collection lives. Two guest suites, a bar and lounge, a wellness area, and a four-car showcase that opens directly to the outdoors.

When a buyer visits, the ritual is already written into the architecture: descend, settle in, let the cars speak.

The master suite was treated as a retreat in the truest sense. This room earns its quiet with materials and proportions that make waking up here feel like a sanctuary.

The master bathroom extends the language of the home without compromise. Designed for the kind of person who applies the same standard of care to a restoration project as to how they begin their morning.
