JEN'S HOME

Columbia, NC - Based on Coyote's Den model

ABOUT THE PROJECT

When Jen first reached out, she already had a strong vision for her family’s future home. They wanted a cabin that would feel open, full of light, and perfectly suited for gatherings, but also with private areas where each family member could retreat. After looking through countless designs, they found the Coyote’s Den model. It immediately stood out as “the one,” needing only a few thoughtful modifications to match their lifestyle.

Every choice was guided by the idea of building a home that encourages both big gatherings and quiet family moments, with spaces designed to adapt as the family grows.

This project was not only about comfort but also about creating opportunities for connection. They included two equally sized offices near the foyer, giving both partners dedicated workspaces. For relaxation and family time, they added a hot tub, a splash pad next to the pool, and expanded the pool house. The bathroom in the pool house was also reconfigured, making it accessible directly from the exterior, which will make summer days by the water even easier and more enjoyable.

From the very beginning, their priorities were clear. They loved the spacious and open layout of the Coyote’s Den, with a large social area that brought together the living room, dining room, and kitchen. High vaulted ceilings gave the interior a sense of airiness, while expansive windows and sliding glass doors connected the space directly to the outdoors. This combination created a natural flow for family gatherings, dinners with friends, or quiet mornings with plenty of natural light.

At the same time, they wanted to make sure that private spaces were clearly separated from the social ones. The result was a layout where bedrooms and offices felt tucked away, while the main living area remained the heart of the home.

Like many of our clients, they discovered our work online. Once they reached out, the process unfolded naturally. They shared their ideas, and together we worked on fine-tuning the plan. The adjustments were minimal in number but significant in impact. From Jen’s perspective, the process was not only easy but also collaborative, with plenty of room to share ideas and find solutions.
